The operation and regular maintenance of wastewater treatment plants is the major activity required not only to achieve depurative efficiency and longevity of the equipment, but also to have resource and energy savings; the water purifier operates 24 hours a day, and therefore caution and experience are essential; the ordinary maintenance is needed on a regular basis and the operator has to be familiar with each and every single part of it to be able to quickly intervene and overcome all unforeseen events.
Biological purifiers utilize, for example, a depurative capacity of bacterial colonies, i.e. of those particular living organisms sensitive to external conditions and noxious substances: the operator must be apt, by means of sophisticated instruments, to prevent, identify and eliminate eventual biological dysfunctions. The same relates to chemical-physical treatments, where a particular sensitivity is required in order to provide better results and low reagent consumption.
The person in charge must therefore have technical and professional skills in various fields, from mechanic and hydraulic, electro technological and electronic to chemical and biological, as well as to be familiar with complex normative aspects in depuration area. Due to the elevate number of plants that need to be continuously operated, a large amount of technical/process data has to be daily collected: that’s the reason why we completely computerize data storing and use, realizing the licensed software with capacity not only to store all plant’s technical information (processing dimension and type, equipment features, etc.), but also each single operating event (gathered data and analytic measurements, energy consumption, technical faults, etc.), in order to provide a complete support to supervisory staff and allow them to properly plan the needed operation.
Always ready to intervene in time, we use telemetry /long distance monitoring systems where possible. With this type of systems is possible to limit and even to eliminate critical situations in case of fault or unusual conditions, to additionally improve the processing and operation related supervisory activities so to gather the main processing parameters (dissolved oxygen, capacities, pH, turbidity, etc.) and the operating status of all equipment and be able to modify the setting of the operating parameters in automated operation (operating time, set point, alarms reset, etc.).
